TEACHING
In addition to making Table Tools® and one-of-a-kind spoons, I teach spoonmaking at craft centers and at home (near Syracuse, NY).

My craft center classes are typically 5-6 days duration and limited to 6 or fewer students. Participants' skill levels range from beginner to advanced woodworker. Much of the instruction in these classes is oriented to the students' individual interests. I supply all of the tools and materials that will be used during the workshops.

When I teach in my own shop it is typically a two-day session, one-on-one, and tailored to the student's level of experience (beginner to advanced) and interests. Again, all tools and materials are supplied.

I enjoy teaching because it allows me to introduce people to the joy of spoonmaking . Teaching provides an opportunity to share more than 25 years of accumulated spoonmaking knowledge.

Some of the places where I have taught include:
Appalachian Center for Craft, Smithville, TN
Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts Gatlinburg, TN
Brookfield Craft Center, Brookfield, CT
Peters Valley Craft Education Center, Layton, NJ

If you are interested in coming here for individual instruction please call (315-638-4749 8AM-8PM Eastern time any day) or e-mail (barry@barrygordon.com).

Two of the articles that I have written for WOODWORK magazine can be viewed here. One is a general discussion of wood spoonmaking and the other describes European buckthorn, a small invasive tree that has strong, attractive wood.
